I wanted to update those of you who may not know our journey and fill you in! Many of you know Marc and I were looking into adoption and actually completed our homestudy almost 1.5 yrs ago. That did not pan out for us at that time, but we took from that experience a great deal of knowlegde about child development, parenthood and actually learned much from each other as to how we would structure our family and our goals and expectations. We feel we are better prepared for parenthood at this time because of what we went thru with the adoption process. Marc and I both have interest in pursuing adoption perhaps later in our lives - we think we can make a difference in a child's life that needs it.
Last spring, with much consideration, and 1 failed adoption attempt, we decided to investigate our troubles getting pregnant. Surprisingly, we found out we needed to try Invitro Fertilization if we indeed wanted to conceive. That was a nerve racking, expensive and emotional route to sign on to! But boy (and girl) are we glad we did!! Some couples need to try several rounds before it would work - but we are blessed that we had a successful first attemp!! We sought the help of a specialist in Milwaukee (about an hour away, our closest option) and they were great! I tried, and fell in love with, accupuncture. I followed all advise, took time off of work, and had accupunture and massages along with daily injections for almost 3 months (some days I had up to 3 different shots) - and with all of that we are expecting twins in May!!
We could not be more excited! We were secretly hoping for twins all along! (Although, we only had 2 perfect embroys out of 11 eggs, that is all we needed! We were hoping to have a few more so we could freeze them incase we needed to attempt again, or if we wanted to attempt in the future, but we didn't. At that point we were nervous - but there was no need - we only needed 2 anyways!)
This fall with all the treatments and the rollercoaster of it all has been intense, but Marc and are now enjoying a healthy pregnancy. I am 16 weeks tomorrow and doing great! I did have some nausea to deal with for a couple months, and extreme tiredness - but that has gone away! I feel great and the babies are growing like crazy! I am showing, I started wearing 100% maternity pants this week. Some of my tops still fit, so that is nice! I go to the doctor next week - I am curious to see how she thinks I am growing! I started feeling the babies moving last week. I was kind of strange to feel them both at once, but I have only felt that 1 time!
They believe that there is one boy and one girl. I will hopefully see that again at the 20 week ultrasound in about a month! The actual 40 week singleton due date is June 16th, but my doctor said my twin due date will be much earlier. She said 37 weeks is full term with twins - that would be May 27th. Anytime after 35 weeks the babies will be in great shape to deliver! They come early because I can no longer give them enough nutrients after the 38 weeks and of course they will run out of room to grow and breath! So looks like by the end of May they will be here - Oh my goodness - THEY will be here!! Kind of scarey!
I think that pretty much gets you all up to date! We thank our family and friends for being supportive and excited along with us!
Marc & Angela
We are so very happy for the both of you, I guess I should say for the four of you. I know you guys will make great parents!! I will enjoy following your progress.
